'Beauty' is Coming to a Stage Near You!

By Susan Mason, Assistant Director

One month until the curtain goes up on ACT One's Disney’s Beauty & the Beast!

Since this is my first show with ACT One, I wasn't sure what to expect, but wow! The cast, parents, directors and community have really shown their support for this show!
Now that the kids have learned their songs, choreography and most of their blocking (places on stage); this show is coming to life!

We all enjoyed Saturday's costume parade, as we got to see most of the cast members' costumes. They are wonderful! Visit our Act One FaceBook Costume Parade Photo Album to see the fun and creativity for yourself.
As we head into the last weeks of rehearsal, the cast will hear more devotions from teen cast members and be challenged to show love to others in a variety of ways. Being a Kansas City Christian theatre training ministry, this show's devotions and worship times have highlighted “love,” as described in 1 Corinthians 13. Just as this show reminds us to love one another and see beyond appearance, the cast has been working together to prepare a "beautiful" show for all to see in April.
One of the best parts of the show will be the Juniors’ performance. They will give a sneak peek into the prince's earlier years. Before the enchantress paid him a visit, he was already acting “beastly,” and these young actors will show him who can “Put This Love in His Heart.” They have been working so hard, and their laughter can be heard in the hallways as they rehearse; it’s great!

This cast really has put its heart and soul into the show, and we're looking forward with sharing this with the audience April 7, 8, 9, 14, 15. Tickets and more info at www.act1kc.com.

Coming up: The directors have reminded the cast they need to be off-script by March 17, and then we’ll really be able to see these characters shine!
