Thoughts on Kansas City Theater Production: It Takes a Village...and a Castle

By Susan Mason, Assistant Director
The posters are hung, the paint soon will dry and many sewing machines are winding down; it is true: it takes all of our great ACT One families working together to make each show a success.

Kudos and many thanks to ALL of the parent crews! You’ve done a wonderful job getting ready for the show!

  • The costumes are amazing! We can only imagine the hours spent planning, shopping, sewing and tweaking so the cast feels special.
  • The Make-up & Hair crew is ready to transform our kids into French villagers and enchanted Castle objects!
  • Publicity is ramping up, so please invite your friends, family and neighbors to see the show! There will be more PR tips coming!
  • The Technical crew is ready for light cues, sounds and other cool theater tricks!
  • Set construction is underway! Before you know it, you’ll think you’re in France!
  • Backstage and Green Room(s) crews are prepared. They’ve been noting characters’ entrances and exits to be ready for show time!
  • House crew is excited advance ticket sales are going well. Be sure to turn in your advance ticket sales THIS TUESDAY (March 22) for the ticket selling contest!
  • The Souvenirs & Refreshments crews will have special keepsakes and goodies for sale in the next few weeks. Stay tuned!
  • The Silent Auction crew is ready for audience members to bid on items (generously donated by local businesses and individuals) at each show. Proceeds benefit ACT One’s scholarship program! (Remember, families, you are asked to provide two silent auction items.)
  • The Props crew is preparing important items for the characters to use. Fun!
  • The Historian and Program crews have done an excellent job taking photos and assembling all the show information.
  • You know how hard your kids have worked, and soon, you’ll be able to see it!
Looking at how far we’ve come from those first nights of auditions and callbacks, we’ve seen the cast really grow in self-confidence, friendships and theater-readiness. It won’t be long now!
